Dread Mob Dreads!


Despite having thousands of points in Orks, I've only ever owned a single Deff Dread. I decided that this year it was high time I had a proper Dread Mob and tag it as a #NewYearNewArmy. I'm adding several other units to this sub-army as well as doing some repaints which I'll talk about in a later post.

The army was built using loads of different kits.

I looked kind of like a serial killer while I was planning the builds.

I had to be in Dad Jail to protect the innocent while I worked on the builds.


I arranged the three units into distinct groups using their method of locomotion as a guide. The three built using Dunecrawler legs are in one unit, the three built with "chicken walker" legs are in another unit, and the three with "human" style locomotion are in a third unit.

How Did it Come to This? 10,000 Points of Painted Orks

One can only make so many milestone posts before people eventually get soul-crushingly bored of them.  However, I'm going to make an exception here because with my Vengeance Batteries, I've reached a total of 10,000 points painted with my Orks.  These points include reasonable upgrades, but not ridiculous add-ons like Kill Kannons for the Battlewagons.  Let's not be silly . Joke Armies - an Editorial

Ponies and Smurfs and Gundams! Oh my! Sometimes someone posts a joke army they've built and painted on the internet and the internet lashes out against it, sometimes quite vociferously. I have a problem with the strong objections to these armies, with caveats. Please note that, throughout this article, I will refer to armies which break the 4th wall and are incongruous to the 40k fluff as "joke armies".  Of course, I do realize many hobbyists who choose to build their armies in this way do not mean them as a joke and take it very seriously, but I need some kind of general term for the article. More Arm-Chair Game Design - The D

I was over on the Frontline Gaming forums chatting about D-Weapons in 40k when I had a little bit of an amateur game design thought about how to streamline the rules for D-Weapons in 40k.  It's clear that the primary issue is the alpha strike component of the rules which really make even fluffy games of 40k a bit of a snooze fest with entire swaths of models meeting their maker far too early in the game. Having said that, though, there are a lot of fun units which are allowed in Escalation which could be great fun.  Many of the Baneblades are really cool and, of course, my green heart adores Stompas of all variety. I'd like to suggest the following rule for use in friendly games of 40k whether the games be fluffy or competitive.
