The Forges of Ghorok Campaign - Prelude

Image
The Arc Cruiser, Primus Code , stalked amidst the violet and crimson clouds of the Hera Nebula. The stars here were ghosts in the ether, illuminating the billowing vapors and scattering radiation in a haphazard spectrum, making the vessel all but invisible. The nearest of those stars glowed fat and red, gorged from eons of feasting upon the nebula's gasses. A small planet once known as Shatara was the hungry star's only surviving child and it was suffering from an Ork infestation. Even closer to the world, a handful of small satellites, running on barely enough power to keep their entombed Astropaths alive, transmitted raw data to the Primus Code . From what their translator servitors could divine from the brutish transmissions the Orks used to communicate over short distances, the Tech Priests had surmised that the world was completely lost along with its three manufactorum complexes. Magos Ulivaras sighed as she poured over the seventeen datafeeds scrolling on the bri...

Shazzo Blitzklawz Adds a Few Ladz

Image
Shazzo Blitzklawz is a privateer who has been working with WAAGH! Drillteef for years, ever since the beginning. The Shazzo is self-named, having been highly impressed by the speed, maneuverability, and discipline of the Tau Battle-suit Commanders. He has sought to emulate these old enemies ever since, but in his own way. ~ * ~ I can now officially run a fairly large-sized Vulcha Skwad which, I believe, with the right HQs attached, could be the new Green Tide, particularly since it may be possible to do a build capable of first turn assaults. Also, they're awesome. Our painted to purchased kits ratio is now 21:5 and I have broken the 17 thousand point mark in painted Ork models at 17,161 pts.

Helkannon

Image
The Meks of WAAGH! Tuska have not been idle in their time on the Blood Prince's world. They have labored to graft Ork know-how with the wonders of Daemonforging. The Helkannon is one such machine. The Orks of WAAGH! Tuska have improved upon Daemon teknology... it is much louder than a similar design normally fielded in Khorne's arsenal, and that's really what matters, isn't it? ~ * ~ I must admit that this model lacks a bit of imagination from a kitbashing standpoint. I simply glued the tracks from a Battlewagon on, replaced the pilots with an Ork pilot (using a Biker arm), stuck some gubbinz on, and added some unfortunate grots. The kannon is extended to a blunderbus-style business end which is simply a repurposed golf tee.

Helboars of Tuska

Image
It was no surprise to Tuska that some of the hardiest Orks who followed him into the Eye of Terror were the Snakebites. With them came their companions, the war boars. Now, these terrifying creatures have been twisted and empowered by the Blood Prince to serve the needs of Tuska's WAAGH! in their re-emergence into the Materium.  ~ * ~ Of course, the technique used for fur is layered drybrushes. It's kind of hard to see in the photos, but for the white, gray, and brown pigs, I've used all the same colors, just in different amounts. Even the white pigs have a bit of the brown drybrushed on their bellies. I love the Flesh Hounds; they're fast and can hit pretty hard.

Diggaz Tanks

Image
The Diggaz of Ghorok have are still quite adept at keeping their vehicles up and running, particularly their Leman Russ tanks. This heavy armor has given some of the Digga tribes an edge against the many Ork and Digga raiding parties throughout the hive. ~ * ~ I used weathering powders for this project and had some issues with their interaction with the clear coat. I had to go back and do some washes with Reikland Fleshshade to fix the discoloration. I also drybrushed the rust with some Leadbelcher in order to get the impression that the Diggaz have been moving around on the rusted machinery.   Renegades & Heretics Allied Detachment (680pts): If I just want a small list with some Objective Secured and some high-strength shooting, here's the list I'll probably use. This will omit the Punisher tank. The Banner of Hate inside the Chimera should provide a fairly reliable fire base with decent morale. HQ: Renegade Command Squad (8#, 195 pts) ...

Diggaz Infantry

Image
When WAAGH! Drillteef broke apart into several warring factions across the Pakeshi Sector, the surviving Humans of Shatara Prime benefited from it greatly. On that world, which the Orks now called Ghorok, the Orks were spending all their time fighting amongst themselves. They largely ignored the filthy humans scraping out a meager existence on the outskirts of the hives and in the blasted wastes beyond. In time, many of the Humans, called Diggaz by the few Orks who bothered to notice them, actually developed thriving tribes. Some even began to trade with some of the Ork clans. Of course, many more were enslaved by the Orks, but the humans were cunning and the Orks were too splintered to mount much of a scouring mission against the many hidden Digga settlements.  Recently, some of the Oddboyz on Ghorok have even taken to employing Diggaz as mercenaries in their scraps against the bigger, meaner Ork bosses. What the Diggaz lack in brute strength, they make up for in cunning. Thei...

The "Spork"

Image
WAAGH! Drillteef claimed a great many war machines of the Imperium when they took the world of Shatara. The most venerable of these holy devices was an Ultramarines Thunderhawk Transporter named The Fist of Roboute. Oddly enough, the vessel was recently spotted sporting a variety of paint schemes during the Raid on Pakeshi IV. Not only was it defaced with Ork glyphs and red paint, but also the burgundy and bone colors of the Blood Ravens. The Blood Ravens have yet to offer an explanation as to why this might have come to pass. ~ * ~ This Thunderhawk was gifted to me by the players in my local area as thanks for the time and effort I put in running and promoting our events. Of course, I decided to add it to my Ork army rather than my Star Eagles. I plan on running this model using Andy Chambers' Looted Vehicle rules from the 3rd Edition Orks codex. This is more the first stage of done rather than properly done. I have a Looted Land Raider I'll be using in conjunction with...

Ordo Xenos Inquisitor Fedrico Caphone

Image
Inquisitor Caphone was captured by Orks on the world of Shatara in the Pakeshi Sector. He was forced into the rusted shell of a hulking Deff Dread and forced to kill alongside his greenskin captors. Caphone was later rescued by the Blood Ravens on the world of Pakishi IV. Rather than waste all the intimate knowledge the Inquisitor had learned, the Techmarine and Tech Priests on hand chose to strip his mechanical prison, sanctify it, and reinforce it with the holy workings of the Adeptus Mechanicus. Inquisitor Caphone is still wildly unhinged, but he knows his foes and fights tirelessly to eradicate them.

New Year Workbench Retrospective and Commitments

Image
Of course, with a year full of hobby, it was inevitable that I'd start 2016 with a hobby retrospective and set the path for the year to come. 2015 Completed Projects January and February: Last Frontline Commissions I had a great time painting for Frontline Gaming, but it was too much additional work to add to my daily routine. I appreciate the company for giving me the projects they did and I recommend trying it out to anyone interested in making a few bucks participating in the hobby they love, if only to learn a few things! February - December: WAAGH! Tuska I've been threatening to build this army for years and I've finally found the time and resources to devote to it. This is clearly this year's main hobby project. Or, at least, the one I'm most proud of. The army uses the Khorne Daemonkin rules to represent the Ork Warlord Tuska emerging back into the Materium having "fallen" to Khorne. March: Frank A listen...
