Flesh Tearers for the Toys for Tots Charity

Image
This represents about 1200 points of models painted in conjunction with the Geek Nation Freebooters to benefit the Toys for Tots charity. This specific army is being painted by myself along with Mike and John. The models below are mine while theirs will combine with these to form about a 3000-4000 point army that will be auctioned on eBay. I rarely use the "standard GW" method of painting and I actually quite like how these turned out. Of course, much of the blending is my own style, but the final edge highlighting is certainly something I rarely do on my own models. I must say that they really do pop.  Thanks to Ben for printing us a replacement turret for the Predator.

Meganobz and a Weirdboy

Image
These models don't really have names or a story yet, but I had to buy the new(ish) Meganobz kit. It's a really great kit and you do not have to glue the hands on. The only real decision you have to make is which of the kombi weapons you want to have. Even then, a little creative magnetizing won't be too frustrating. For now, this represents the last of my Orks until the new codex is released. I do plan on doing some minor infantry touch-ups until then. I also want some of my Tankbustas to be in this scheme and all of my Lootaz. This Weirdboy conversion was built for me by a buddy.

New Blood for Da Krumpin Squad

Image
Warboss Thudguts pledged himself and his warband, Da Krumpin Squad, to Drillteef after the Painboss brought him back from the brink of death on the killing fields of Torgazond. Although the Warboss came out of the operation with a belly full of kustom organs, he could still fight and lead his Boyz to victory. Da Krumpin Squad served at Drillteef's pleasure for years. The crew was always known as the "Goff-iest" of all the warbands in the WAAGH! They were known for collecting the most esoteric (and functionally overcomplicated) close combat weaponry based solely on the shape of the dent it would leave in an adversary's skull. Recent years have been trying for WAAGH! Drillteef, but Thudguts has remained loyal to the cause throughout. Such was his loyalty that Thudguts, with the assistance of his closest adviser, Weird Zagwarp, who helped Drillteef wrest control of his WAAGH! back from Boss Krakbone despite the Painboss's recent failures. This is for...

Two New Gorkanauts

Image
The cloud of Ork vessels hurling towards the ongoing big fight in Ultima Segmentum is not only crammed with Orks, but billions of tonnes of heavy machinery. Among them are Big Mek Dreadnutz's Dread Mob. Among these clanking gods of war are two new machines. Kommandos in the field reported back to Dreadnutz that an army of Beakies with shiny, yellow armour called the Lamentors had finally received some reinforcements, so they were worth a proppa fight. Of course, Dreadnutz sent all the burnas and lootaz he could spare to attack the Beakies and take whatever they could. Although severely diminished in number, the Orks were able to return with one of the Beakies' beautiful new vehicles. As such, the Repulsork was born! Look at these worky bitz! So much dakka! Perhaps still not enough! The Repulsork has already had a few early victories! Dreadnutz has also created a Gorkanaut to convey his personal bodyguard of Meganobz into battle. Of course, the Gork...

ITC Orc Terrain Series 2/2 - Customization

Image
I'm back to finally finish off the series with the Ork buildings from the  ITC terrain series . My ITC Orc battlefields have quickly become my favorite by far. They are really amazing. I especially love the L-shaped buildings and the towers, but the whole line is really gorgeous. In this video, I show you how I added some personal flair to the buildings (even though none is really needed... I just like being difficult). I also show you how I supplemented my terrain with some cool southwestern style hills. At the end, I show off how the paint came together and how the terrain looks with models on it. Check out the video for more and let me know what you'd like to see next in the comments below.   And remember, Frontline Gaming sells gaming products at a discount, every day in their webcart !

First Quarter 2018 Hobby Progress - Terrain, Star Eagles, and Buggies!

Image
I haven't had a post in a while, so I figured I should do one before the first three months of 2019 is over. Goldensprue Cup Terrain The Goldensprue Cup GT was a success again and there was a lot of terrain to be made for that. This included a "Sprue City" battlefield and two Ork battlefields thanks to Frontline Gaming and some help from my buddy, Pat. Star Eagles I painted up the three Aggressors at the end of January and the Inceptors at the end of February. I royally screwed up the steps on the Aggressors because I failed to refer to my formula notes before starting work. Buggies I picked up a bunch of buggies at Da Boyz GT in 2017 and I've been champing at the bit to get them done. Here are the results of that work for March. What's Next? I thoroughly enjoyed painting these buggies and I think I want to move on to the Gorkanaut model I picked up at the Portal GT last year. I'm looking forward to ...

2017 Hobby Progress - 17,000 points and 475 models

Image
This year, I harnessed my D.I.N.K. status and the month off I got to recuperate from gastric bypass surgery to get a ton on hobby progress completed. Even with the relatively easy amount of personal responsibilities, it was a huge undertaking to get 475 models painted this year. Thanks to Wendy for being the coolest. Also thanks to my hobby peer group including my own 40k club  made of various local and remote folks and also the people in the 1 Hour a Night Facebook group and the Insane Mode Facebook group. Note that, in addition to these painted figs, I found the time to renovate the game room, write about 45,000 words, co-produce over 30 episodes of the Masters of the Forge podcast, play lots of games, and run the Goldensprue Cup GT . I also attended The Portal GT , the Beef & Wing Brawl , and Da Boyz GT . Imperial Knights Army The first army I finished this year were my Imperial Knights of House Draco. I've had mixed experiences regarding my knights. They wer...
