The Goldensprue Cup Has Returned!

Image
A new Goldensprue Cup has been forged this day for the Overall winner of the upcoming Grimfoe Games Team Tournament which is being held this Saturday at 9AM in East Greenbush, New York.  I must say that it is my finest trophy yet! I haven't got a lot else to add. Well, I do have a lot to add, but I am much too busy to enumerate it. I should be making a post or two regarding recent games and whatnot, but for now, there's too much to do. At any rate, if you're in the area, I hope you consider coming.  We will pair up folks who arrive as a single.  It's a fun way to get to know good people. Good luck to the lucky team who will take home this coveted award! Download the Tournament Packet

Launching a Multi-Assault in 7th Edition

Image
In upstate New York, it is so humid that no matter what time of year it is, the only real way to create an optimal situation for spraying primer or clear coat is to drastically change the temperature of a room. So, having said that, while I wait for the game room to cool off with the air conditioner, I have been meaning to write about the following topic. So, I've been hearing a little bit of kvetching about how difficult it is to execute a multi-assault in 7th Edition.  I must agree that it is harder, but I think that, in a lot of applications, it's not too hard as long as you plan ahead.  Planning ahead is almost always an important element for success in 40k. Imagine a Battlewagon full of 19 'Ard Boyz (with a Power Klaw Nob) and Mad Dok Grotsnik. These are represented by our green rectangle in the image above.  We've also got a Space Marines Drop Pod and a Combat Squad of Tactical Marines (represented by the blue pentagon and circles respecti...

Loopy Paints Unto Others - Ravenwing

Image
This is a Level 1 of Ravenwing bikes I did for Frontline Gaming which means 1 highlight.  This was a fun project before the behemoth projects I have in front of me and after the huge weekend I had doing Titans. However, I did go a little overboard on the white and it took me a bit too long. It's okay, though. I'm glad they look good. At bat:  Eldar On deck:  More Titan work Next in the lineup:   Grey Knights Be sure to click the images for full resolution.

Dirty Goblin Singles Tournament - July 2014

Image
I had a wonderful time at Dirty Goblin Games yesterday.  I got to play three fun games with three great opponents.  The day was truly a win for me on many fronts.  I was super glad that four buddies from the Grimfoe Games 40k Group attended as well. Some of us met at my house first, and drove up together and that's always nice to talk shop while making the 30-minute drive North up Route 32.  Most people think of Manhattan and the Bronx when they think about New York.   This state is 140,000 square miles of awesome. Format Anyways, we were running NoVa Open army-construction format for this tournament.  I thought it was good to rein in some of the craziness of multiple detachments even though our locals usually don't go nuts with it and bring a dick list.   It really gives us a little bit of a challenge in army construction, but self-allying helps alleviate some of the unfairness that could crop up with new armies able to ally with their suppl...
