At the beginning of me taking this part-time job painting models for Frontline Gaming, Wendy and I had agreed that we would get together once in a while to talk about whether it's worth it to us or not. As some of you know, she's taking on additional responsibilities around the house so that I may do this work in my spare time. We talked about it and decided that although I could make more money doing something else, the fact that I enjoy it, that I'm home while I do it, and that I can do the work pretty much in my own time makes it worth it. Add that to the fact that my speed should increase as I get more experience and we've decided that we'll keep at it.
Doing this is a great source of income which is helping us pay off some bills and also is way better than going back to Wal-Mart part time or doing freelance code work which, while it pays really well, is exactly like coming home from work and then going right back to work.
I just have to make sure I keep getting up and walking around to keep the circulation going. Sitting all day long takes its toll on the human body.
At any rate, the customer for this Level 2 paint and Level 1 basing with magnetization must have received his model by now, so I figured it was time to post a pic. This was my first Grey Knight project and I liked it. I hope the customer did too.
For the blue-tinted bright steel color, what I did was base with Leadbelcher, layer with Ironbreaker, and highlight with Runefang. Then, I took 'Ardcote and tinted it with some blue and painted that over the top of the silver. That seems to work really nice without all the labor of doing dozens of thin glazes. I did do several coats on the sword to give it a muted, but apparent glow.

Thanks, Jason! I was concerned about that, but somehow it's kind of done the opposite. All the different stuff I'm painting for FLG is giving me a breadth of experience I wouldn't otherwise get!
